George Wendell Leach Obituary
On April 28, 2024, George WENDELL Leach, heard from our Heavenly Father and he answered his call. He had fought a good fight and finished the race. It was time to come home and take his place.
Mr. George Wendell Leach was born on January 4, 1969, to George D. and Esther R. Leach in Brooklyn, New York. He was the oldest of two children. In 1974, his parents relocated the family to Alexandria, VA. Wendell attended and graduated from West Potomac High School in June 1987. Later he became a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church and sung with the Voices of Calvary and Male Chorus Choir.
Wendell worked for the Department of Corrections in Lorton, VA, from February 1990 to November 1999. On November 19, 1999, he began his career as a hardworking, committed and dedicated employee with the Washington Metropolitan Transportation Authority (WMTA) until his passing.
Wendell proudly embraced the family given title as the families loving, humble, gentle giant. He was a loyal and trusted son, caring and devoted brother, supportive and honorable uncle. He was an all-around loved and respected person to his cousin and friends.
In his spare time, he enjoyed being around his friends and visiting with his family in Goldsboro, NC. He loved shopping at the Prime Outlet, going on cruises, taking destination trips and vacationing in Myrtle Beach. Wendell undoubtedly, had a deep passion for food. He loved eating the Drunken Ribeye Steak from Mike’s Grill. He would never miss an opportunity to grab a pork chop sandwich and hotdog from the Lighthouse.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving parents, George and Esther Leach, his son, Rashard Leach, two grandsons Josiah and Julius Leach, sister, Kimberly Adams, nephew, Christian Adams, beloved stepdaughter, Katrina Peterson, God sister, Theresa E. Parmer, and a host of Uncles, Aunts, Cousins, extended family and close friends.
