Allen Robert Ferrell, Jr. Obituary
Allen Robert Ferrell, Jr. ("Butch/Ziggy") was born on April 26, 1957, in Philadelphia, PA, to the late Allen Robert, Sr and Evelyn Patton Ferrell. In 1990, he married and had two daughters Dana C. Ferrell (Daniel) and Ashley M. Ferrell (Chris). In 2005, Allen married the love of his life Cynthia (Tardencilla) Ferrell. He was blessed to share a lifelong loving and fatherly bond with his stepchildren Jason and Jessica Tardencilla, whom he loved dearly.
Allen was the second of three children and he predeceased his two sisters Pamela Hargrove (Donald) and Joanne Ferrell (Dana). He also adored his three grandchildren Anthony Gillis, Aiden Gillis and Evan Moore.
As a young boy, he attended Catholic schools in the city of Philadelphia and served as an altar boy. His formative years were spent in Clayton, N.J. living on a small farm owned by his grandfather. He excelled in sports and played basketball, football and baseball for the Clayton Clippers. After graduating from high school, Allen served in the merchant marines for several years. He found his calling and worked for the Washington Metropolitan Transit Authority (Metro) until his retirement in 2018.
Allen and his wife Cynthia enjoyed traveling the world together with their family and friends. Their home was filled with the love and laughter of friendship. Allen was the ultimate foodie. He loved food and turned dining into a fabulous experience. There was no restaurant too far to travel to. If the food was good, Allen was there!
Allen was blessed to be handsome, charming, gracious and classy. When he entered a room, his huge personality would fill the room. He loved life and was consistently so joyful and fun. He did nothing half-heartedly. Allen lived his life to the fullest and was loved by so many people.
Most importantly Allen accepted Jesus Christ into his heart and acknowledged Him as the Lord of his life. On April 30, 2025 he earned his wings and began his official heavenly retirement. We love you dearly and your presence in our lives will be sorely missed.
In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Allen's family.
