Arthur Randolph Grinage

Arthur Randolph Grinage was born on May 17, 1955 to Delores Goodall and Arthur Chichester Grinage in Washington, DC. He was the oldest of four children born of this union which included Michael, Diane and Donna.

He attended various primary schools eventually graduating from DC’s Calvin Coolidge High School in 1973. On September 19, 1974 he joined the United States Airforce and was honorably discharged August 27, 1976.

Arthur returned to his beloved DC hometown. He took some courses at Montgomery College in Tacoma Park, Maryland while working various jobs. He welcomed his eldest daughter Dana who became his best friend and confident. Arthur met and married Denise Clarke and their union welcomed daughters, Ashley, Andrea, Annette, Arnise, Angie and sons Arthur Jr. and Andrew. He met and married his current wife, Cynthia (née Campbell) in 2013.

In 2008, Arthur became employed by Washington Metro Area Transit Authority (WMATA) as a bus operator. He loved driving the bus, choosing to work “the board” where no route was the same on a daily basis. He retired in December 2022 after nearly 15 years with the company.

Arthur Randolph Grinage Sr. passed on June 13, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved grandmother Fannie Chichester Grinage and sister, Diane. He has left to cherish his memory his loving wife, Cynthia, children, bonus children, grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
