Sharon's Obituary
Sharon Bonita Dorsey, affectionately known as “Sis,” entered eternal rest on June 3, 2025, at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. Born on January 25, 1950, in Washington, DC, Sharon was the cherished daughter of the late Clayton and Honthalena Williams. She was educated in the D.C. Public School system, attending Whittier Elementary, John Burroughs Elementary, Bertie Backus Junior High, and Calvin Coolidge High School. While in school, she was actively involved in the field hockey team, junior varsity basketball team, German Club, and the Glee Club.
Sharon’s love for the Lord began at an early age. She was a lifelong member of the A.M.E. Zion Church denomination, beginning her spiritual journey at Galbraith A.M.E. Zion Church. There, she sang in the children’s and junior choirs, served on the Usher Board and the Stewardess Board, and was a member of the J. Oliver Hart Inspirational Choir.
Sharon was the proud mother of four children, one daughter and three sons. She worked for many years at the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority. In 1995, she relocated to Richmond, Virginia, and was united in holy matrimony with Amos Dorsey. She joined Zion Chester A.M.E. Zion Church, where she continued her commitment to ministry by serving with the Friends of Faith, the Senior Gospel Choir, the Stewardess Board, and the Praise Club.
Later, she and her husband Amos worshiped together at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, believing that “a family that worships together stays together.” They eventually joined Good Shepherd Baptist Church, where Sharon joyfully served in both the choir and the food ministry. Sharon was known for her vibrant spirit, her deep faith, and her unwavering dedication to family and service.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Amos Dorsey. She leaves to cherish her memory: two sisters, Alfreda and Ilona; one daughter, Michelle; three sons, Clifford, Dion, and Jermaine (Pamela); four bonus sons, Dino (Jackie), Edward, Marvin, and Davon; one bonus daughter, Trema (Fred); six granddaughters, eight grandsons, and fifteen great-grandchildren; three nephews, one niece, one aunt, one sister-in-law and a host of extended family members and dear friends.
A special thanks to her sister, Ona, for their endless support, love, and care during her illness.
“Well done, good and faithful servant." Matthew 25:23
