Obituary for Louis Pew
Louis Pew joined the heavenly choir on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at his residence in Clinton, MD, with his wife Jennifer by his side. God in His infinite wisdom called His beloved son from labor to eternal rest. He was born on December 26, 1939, in Washington, DC to the late Ernest Pew and Laura Simpkin. He was the youngest of seven children. He was preceded in death by his siblings: James Roy, Seymour Roy Frederick Roy, Mary Jane Wallace, and Geraldine Thornton.
Louis received the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at an early age. He joined Christ’s Church under
the teaching ministry of Pastor Don Curtis. Louis served alongside his wife Jennifer teaching the
New Members’ Class. He was active in the Men’s Choir. He was gifted with a melodious baritone/bass voice and led many songs in the choir, however the one song that stands out is, “I Know What Prayer Can Do.” Louis also sang with the Voices Unlimited Choir for many years at Campbell AME Church Washington, DC.
Educated in the District of Columbia Public School system, Louis graduated from Eastern High
School in 1958. He was employed with Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA)
where he retired after working 33 years. He was a hard worker and was committed to the tasks
that were presented.
He enjoyed spending time with family, fishing, cooking, and watching western shows. He was well
known for his signature dish of delicious macaroni and cheese and an enthusiastic Dallas
Cowboys fan.
He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife Jennifer of 42 years, who cared for him to the
end. Four sons, Derrick Pew, Andre Rosier, Anthony Rosier and Antoine. One Brother Ernest
(Cheryl) Roy; Sisters-in-law Lea Roy of Clinton, MD, Sharon Freeman (Charles Minter) of
Pittsville, VA, Forestine Blount of Petersburg VA, Sandra (Ronnie) Callands of Pittsville, VA;
Cynthia Berger of Gretna, VA; one brother- in-law John F. (April) Berger of Roanoke, VA; five
grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
